WATER ANALYSIS

Water testing is not included in the scope of a Home Inspection.
This is an additional test we can provide.

Well drawing
A home inspection is a visual inspection of the property. Unfortunately many of the problems associated with the mechanical performance of a well's ability to deliver potable water to the house occur underground and cannot be dectected with a visual inspection. Any of the following can effect a well's ability to deliver safe drinking water:

  • Faulty of non-existent seal on casing liner
  • Rusted or cracked casing liner
  • Previous service work that was performed without proper sanitation procedures
  • Improperly constructed well that are too shallow or too large in diameter
  • Chemicals in the ground water from a nearby farm
  • Radon gas in rock

Many of the impurities listed below are explained in the EPA Drinking Water document we have provided here. More information can be found at www.epa.gov .

If any of the above conditions exist, the well might not be functioning properly and the water could be contaminated with bacteria, nitrates, nitrites, radon or lead.

The EPA recommends that all private wells be tested annually for contaminants.

If your Well Bacteria test fails, see: Disinfecting a Well

  Sampling & Lab work

We take the water sample as the last step in the inspection process. This ensures a fresh sample and more accurate test results. The sample is hand delivered to our lab for immediate testing.
Our primary laboratory is a Massachusetts DEP Certified Lab. # M-MA923 & secondary lab: Massachusetts DEP Certified Lab. # M-MA028.
